The Watson’s Go to Birmingham was written by Christopher Paul Curtis and has 210 pages. Another book by Christopher is Bud not Buddy. If you like realistic fiction set in the 1950’s then you will like this book.

Have You ever wondered what life was like in the 1960’s Kenneth is a young boy with tons of curiosity. His older, cooler brother, Byron, is too cool for his family. Kenneth tries to make Byron express his feelings more. When his parents want to travel to Birmingham to spend time with Kenneth’s Moms mom. They hit the road after their dad bought them a new record player. When they get to Alabama, Kenny rushes into his grandmothers arms. He gets inside and feels at home even though it is really hot. He sleeps with no covers that night. Later when he is at home his sister goes to church. All of the sudden at the church a bomb goes off. Does Joetta make it out or does Kenneth live with one less person in his life.

The book I read was House of Robots by James Patterson. The book was 318 pages. Another book by Patterson was Laugh out Loud.  If you like science fiction then you will probably like this book. My favorite character was E because he will not let Sammy tell him how to behave.

Sammy races to his mother to tell her goodbye when he sees something sitting at the table with his father. He realizes it’s one of his moms new robots. She tells him about how his name, E, stands for Egghead. He really wants to see what this robot can do, so he runs over to it and pushes his head. He is really disappointed when he realizes it can’t do anything accept go to school with him. He hopes that he is good at dodge ball because he is terrible. Will E help Sammy with school or will he make it a disaster? Read House of Robots by James Patterson.

The book I read was Refugee by Alan Kratz. It has 317 pages in it. If you like the book Prisoner 8-3087, then you will like this book. Another book by Kratz is Projekt 1067. My favorite character is Josef because when he turned 13, he was officially a man, and he did not want to do any of the little kid stuff.

“Wake up” He heard his mom say. “Today is the day your dad comes home. We are also taking a boat to Cuba to get away from the Nazis. We are going to meet him on the edge of the shore when we try to sneak on.” Joseph’s heart sank when he heard the word sneak. He quickly asked his mother if they really were or if she was playing a game with him. She said in a stern voice,”No” He quickly followed his mother into a train when he heard a baby crying. “Were they taking a train to the boat” He thought. It was a long drive to the boat but they made it. They found their father and he was so different. He hadn’t shaved in months he knew. He quickly ran to the foot of the boat a carefully sneaked onto the platform. No one knew they were Jews because they had taken off their armbands. They were finally on their way away from the Nazis. Would they escape or be caught red handed?

The book I read was Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar. The book has 179 pages. Another book by Sachar is Holes. If you like Science Fiction then you might want to try reading this. My favorite character is Chad because he will admit that he is mean and I can not do that.

“I heard that Chad had gotten chased by a wolf trying to find the Hermit that lives in the woods” said Hope. Tamaya is trying to fit in but she just can’t at her new school. Meanwhile Marshall, Tamayas neighbor, is having trouble exceeding in his classes because Chad is a mean bully that is trying to get Marshall for being to smart and answering the questions that the teacher asks them. Chad talks to Marshall and says, ” Lets settle this. Meet me at the corner on the street you walk home on.” At the end of school Marshall suddenly  knows a short cut. Will Tamaya and Marshall make it home safely or will they be beat up by Chad?   Read Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar.

The Unwanteds was written by Lisa Mcmann. This book has 390 pages. Another book by Mcmann is The Unwanteds Island of silence. If you like Fantasy books then you will like this book. My favorite character is Samheed because I can relate to him most. We both do not like changes in life.

Have you ever been scared of change? Well Alex Stowe was when he was to be purged by the all powerful High Priest Justine. When Alex figured out that a man named Mr. Today had saved him from being killed he was scared. He soon learns that Mr. Today is a good guy. He loves being creative, where in Quill you could not. If you were seen drawing in Quill you would be sent to be purged. He is upset when he makes friends, but they exceed right in front of him. He finally gets to move up to the advanced class. Soon Quill will learn about Artime and kill them. Will they survive or will they be killed in the process?    Read The Unwanteds by Lisa Mcmann

The book I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was written by Jeff Kinney and has 217 pages. Another book by this author is Diary of a Wimpy Kid Long Haul. If you like realistic fiction then you will like this book. I really enjoy how there is always action, then there is silence. 

“Good Morning” mom said as I jump out of bed to the smell of hot juicy bacon. I run down stairs to find that Dad is cooking the bacon. I run over to him, and say “Hello father.” But I quickly realize that something is not right. I asked impatiently, “Whats going on?” My mother did not respond to my question. Then she finally let us know we were going to get rid of the pig. I did not really care because he thinks the pig is kind of annoying but Manny did. He threw a fit and started screaming. Do they keep the pig or does he become the bacon he was about to eat? Meanwhile on the other side of the house Greg and Rowley are filming a movie about worms taking over the house. They realize it does not look real because they are using gummy worms instead of real worms. Do they fail or will they become movie stars?

The book I read was The BFG by Roald Dahl. The book was 214 pages long. Another book by Dahl is The Twits. If you like Fantasy books then this book my interest you. If you like the Twits then you may like this book. My favorite character was Mr Tibbs because he knows how to do everything. He is nice and polite and can assemble a meal in 2 seconds flat.

Do you believe in giants. Well Sophie did not until she got taken away by a tall and mysterious man. His name was the BFG. He was the friendliest of giants but Sophie did not know that. She thought she was about to become breakfast. After about an hour she wondered why she was not in the BFG’s stomach. He said he would never eat her, but the other giants would. They got together and wanted to stop the other giants from eating other children. They decided to go to the queen and get the military to help with the giants. Do they get to the queen or will they be killed by the queens guards?

Read the BFG by Roald Dahl.    

The book I read was Stranded by Jeff Probst. The book is 208 pages long. Another book by this author is Stranded Shadow Island. If you like realistic Fiction books then you will like this book. My favorite character is Carter because he is a great leader in the book when they crash on the island.

Have you ever been on a boat for a week. Well Carter, Jane, Buzz, and Vanessa are on a boat for the week with their uncle Dexter. He is great with boats and has a lot of experience. They are out on a boat while their parents are staying at the island to enjoy their anniversary. The kids are down in the cabin when they here a loud crash. Uncle Dexter comes to tell them that they are okay, they just had a wave crash on the side of their boat. Carter wonders if there is a storm coming when he sees the clouds have gotten darker. He asks his uncle and he says they are fine it is just going to be rough for a little while. The storm picks up and uncle Dexter prepares the life raft. He jumps in and lowers it down but the kids are to scared to jump so they are stuck on the boat while Dexter drifts to sea. Carter sees land and he knows that’s not good. Do they make it out alive or will they become shark bait?
